Sometimes it is hard to see the potential in a brick ranch house but this one was easy, lots of square footage, and windows everywhere made up for the other limitations. The brown/orange uglyish brick from the 60s had to be overlooked as did the work, time, and money involved to give it new life and make it comfortable in 2013. Yet, this was an easy choice for my clients as the acreage, location and a great big shop building sweetened the deal. They had already started on their project when I became involved but an assortment of “Good grief, what do we do now” prompted them to come looking for me. I had helped them with their previous home about 25 years ago, so working together again was easy.
They had already removed many small rooms and 23 doorways and planning was well underway for the master area, however they had become stumped by the windows that were everywhere and how to get the spaces planned for cabinetry. The kitchen design they had already gotten was ill-conceived and they were starting to panic. Also, making everything tricky, the steam heat registers around the floor presented their own set of problems as cabinets had to be built above them in some instances.
The area off the kitchen was three little rooms, all with windows, off a long hallway. We opened it all jack hammered concrete to move the plumbing and it became a great back entry with pantry cabinets and a beautiful new bathroom area.
A serious amount of Custom Wood Products cabinetry, Homer Wood Hickory floors, beautiful granite, some hand made tile and new room arrangements and this house became a wonderful customized home.Bathroom
